Many people wonder as to what they can bring to US on a flight journey and ensure that they (or the items they bring) do not get thrown out at the airport. Well, here is a suggestive list as of Oct 2018
- YES
- Bakery items and cheeses
- Condiments, vinegar, oils, packaged spices, honey, maple syrup, coffee, fish, tea
- Baby food
- Company packed, sealed and labeled spices, coffee, tea, pulses for cooking, ready-to-eat items
- Baby food/formula
- Sealed chocolate packets
- NO
- Avoid bringing Rice and/or any home made items in loose/open packaging – if detected they can be thrown out – For example, home-made spices, curry powders, pickles, pappads etc. might get thrown out whereas company sealed food items will go through
- Fruits/Vegetables/Flowers/Meat products
- Seeds
- What can/cannot be taken in cabin baggage?
- Keep all your travel documents, visa documents, tickets in your cabin baggage
- Over-the-counter Medicines like Paracetamol, Headache tablets etc. can be brought in – again limit everything to less than 90 days supply. If you are bringing any other medicines/injections etc., bring the official doctor’s prescription along
- Power banks – bring only in cabin baggage, do NOT send in check-in baggage
- Opened food items – will get thrown out
- Water bottles/Liquids in cabin baggage – potentially these will get thrown out at customs at boarding point itself. Hence do not bring them. You’ll anyway be able to purchase beyond customs check-point
- Baby food – if you are bringing this to give the baby on-flight, ensure that you do not carry more than 100 gms opened packet as security will check them
- Do not bring any liquid/cream etc. more than 100 gms. including Paste/Lotion etc.
- Rest of the prohibited items can be viewed in the respective airlines website itself
